The FSSAI stands for ‘’food safety and standard authority of India ‘’.It works as per the guidelines mentioned in the food safety and standards act ,2006.The major focus of the authority is to check for the safe food manufacture ,storage and handling practice of food business operators.
TYPES OF FSSAI LICENSE -
There are two types of FSSAI license available depending upon the size of business turnover , nature and type of business activity ,scale of the business operation etc .
A] FSSAI STATE LICENSE -
This type of the FSSAI License is needed by the medium sized companies with the annual turnover of the business being Rs.12 crore to 20 crores respectively.
B] FSSAI CENTRAL LICENSE -
This type of license is being provided to the large sized companies whose annual turnover is above Rs.20 crore.
One should note that in case of supply of food products at government premises or export and import of food products the central license is mandatory and applicable.
COMPULSORY TO HAVE FSSAI REGISTRATION NUMBER ON PACKAGING OF FOOD PRODUCT -
According to the food safety and standards acts ,2006 ,it is compulsory to have FSSAI registration number being printed on the packaging of food.The FSSAI logo should also be there on the packaging of food products and every business operator should follow the guidelines otherwise strict action should be taken against the operator.

FSSAI REGISTRATION NUMBER -
The FSSAI registration or license number is a 14 digit number which is needed to be obtained by every food business organization. The registration number contains the information of registration details of the manufacturer.
The format of the registration number read as defined below -
1] The first digit defines the status of the manufacturer whether he is a license holder or only registered.
2] The state code is being represented in the next two digits.
3] The following two digits present the year of FSSAI registration or license.
4] The next three digits represent the licensing authority.
5] The other remaining six digits are the registration or license number of the manufacturer.
GRIEVANCES BEING ADDRESSED TO THE FSSAI AUTHORITY -
The grievance that can be addressed to the FSSAI authority are as follows -
1] The food adulteration
2] Violating the FSSAI Act Provisions and act
3] Food poisoning
4] Unhygienic malpractice by FBOs
5] Wrongful advertising, packaging ,advertisement etc.
6] FSSAI registration and license grievance
7] Contamination of food
8] Not following the quality and standard of food safety and security regulations
9] making unauthorized and misuse of food product
PEOPLE EXEMPTED FROM FSSAI REGISTRATION -
The following are the exemptions from FSSAI namely -
1] The basic and primary food producers at grass root level i.e farmers of the country.
2] The individuals who prepare food for only household purposes.
3] The one who is registered as a member of cooperative society.
