Any person involved in telemarketing services activity needs to register themselves for Telemarketing registration. Telemarketing registration is mandatory in many states of India. Therefore every company or individual who is willing to start a call center or telemarketing services needs to register themselves for a Telemarketing registration.
Telemarketing registration may also refer to industry specific registrations. Some of the States in India require additional registration for telemarketers who sell business opportunities. Telemarketing registration refers to several different things-

General guidelines for Telemarketing registration
The guidelines for telemarketing registration are as follows-
Telemarketers need to apply for telemarketing registration through the Department of Telecommunication (DOT) or any other agency authorized by the Department of Telecommunication (DOT).
Each telemarketing location should be registered location wise separately.
A telemarketer can do multiple registrations.
A telemarketer should pay processing fees of Rs. 5000 per telemarketing center.
A telemarketing license is valid for 10 years and is to be renewed thereafter.
Telemarketers should inform the department of telecommunication within 15 days in case of any change.
Compliance to Directions/ Orders
A telemarketer has to comply with the following-
Orders or directions issued by DOT.
Guidelines for telemarketer
Order or directions or regulations that are issued by TRAI in relation to unsolicited commercial communication.
Suspension of Telemarketing Registration
DOT, ministry of communication and information technology has full right to suspend the operation of this registration at any time, if in the opinion of DOT it is necessary to suspend the operations in public interest of the security of the state or for proper conduct of the telegraph. DO does not ask the license to defend, the decision taken by DOT is final.
Surrendering of Telemarketing Registration
A Telemarketer may also surrender its license by giving 30 days notice to the Department of Telecommunication (DOT).
Termination of Telemarketing registration
A telemarketing incense can be terminated in case the licensor fails to comply with the registration guidelines.
Procedure for Telemarketing Registration
Procedure for Telemarketing license are as follows-
Firstly you need to approach the service provider to get the provisional certificate along with the application form (TM-1)
After submitting the application, the acknowledgement will be issued by the service provider, you will treat it the same as provisional registration. It is issued for a period of 3 months.
Later telemarketing licenses will be issued by DOt which will be valid for the period of 10 years.
Then telemarketers have to make arrangements to get the calling list cleaned by the national do not call (NDNC) registry of NIC as per the laid down procedures.
Telemarketers should be responsible for arranging resources for data connectivity to NDNC.
